Happy Sunday Creator!
Do I have the secret to beating the Algortihm?
-Nope
But, I have some experience.
After posting for 12 months almost everyday - I “somewhat” understand the algorithm.
By understanding the algorithm, you can tailor your strategy to optimize things like reach, engagement and growth.
Everything said in this newsletter is not confirmed by Meta or anything.
This is purely from my experience.
The goal for this newsletter:
Get you a better understanding of the algorithm
What the algorithm takes into account
How to cooperate with the algorithm
The first hour
So how does the algorithm decide if a post should get 10k views, or 23 views?
In my experience, it’s similar to the Tiktok algorithm.
For you that doesn’t know how that works, I’ll explain:
When a piece of content gets posted on Tiktok, the content get distributed to a small group of people within the 1st hour.
Depending on how that piece of content performed to that group of people, it either gets shown to more people or just simply stop getting distributed to people.
The algorithm looks at metrics like:
Average view time
Likes
Comments
Shares
Saves
This image explains this well:

So what does this mean?
This means that the first hour of performance on your post determines how much reach it gets.
Atleast in my experience.
Reach = Content getting distributed by the algorithm
The Threads algorithm looks at these metrics:
Likes
Comments
Reposts
Quotes
Shares
How long people stay on your Thread
This also confirms the importance of good hooks.
You need to capture attention instantly to get good reach.
Follow this rule: Spend 60% of efforts on the hook.
If you struggle to write good hooks 👇️
The life-span of a post
This is from my experience but also from other creators.
Normally, a post gets reach from 24 to 48 hours.
Depending on how well it performs.
A typical post gets reach for 24 to 48 hours.
A viral post (1k+ likes) can get reach for 60 hours or more.
A post that flops might get reach for only a few hours.
But here's the interesting part:
Sometimes, posts that perform poorly at first can suddenly pick up traction days later.
I’ve had posts that got almost zero engagement in the first hours, then suddenly gained thousands of views after 12-24 hours.
Example:
I remember that this post only got like 5 likes and 300 views after 2 hours.
But after about 12 hours, I saw that it was getting traction again.
I was starting to get unexpected likes and views.
After 2 days, it had 56 likes and 2.7k views

Now that you hopefully understand the algorithm a bit better.
Let’s talk about how to tailor your content to maximize results.
How to “Beat the algorithm”
I’m now going to share my beliefs on “how to beat the algorithm”
Over the year, I’ve noticed patterns on engagement rates for periods of time.
And I’ve noticed what makes my engagement go up or go down.
Here’s what I’ve found:
The Role of Consistency:
Consistency isn’t just about discipline.
It’s part of the algorithm game.
When you post regularly, the algorithm starts recognizing you as an active creator. This can lead to:
Better post distribution over time.
Higher engagement from your audience.
Increased chances of landing in recommended feeds.
Consistency also helps you learn faster. The more you post, the quicker you understand what works and what doesn’t.
Engagement: The Hidden Algorithm Booster
The algorithm loves engagement, but not just any engagement. Meaningful interactions matter most.
Reply to comments: It signals that your post is sparking conversation.
Ask questions: Encourage your audience to respond.
Engage back: Interact with other creators' posts to build relationships and increase visibility.
The more genuine engagement your post gets, the more the algorithm favors it.
MY THEORY: The more you engage with other posts, the more reach your OWN posts will get
Tell the algorithm who your content is for:
This step is not very known.
I’ve only seen one or two creators talk about this.
“To tell the algorithm who you are”:
Follow tons of creators in the same niche
Like every post from creators in the same niche
Follow accounts that follow creators in your niche
This way, you send signals to the algorithm who your content is for.
And hopefully, the algorithm distributes your content to your ideal audience.
That’s it for today!
Focus on what you can control. The algorithm does the rest.
Keep experimenting, analyzing, and improving.
KEEP CREATING
