Your niche matters, but it’s never the deciding factor in your success.
A lot of new creators overthink this step, spending weeks (or even months) trying to find the perfect niche before they start posting.
That’s a mistake.
Your Niche Will Evolve Over Time
What you start posting about today might shift six months from now, and that’s okay.
In fact, it’s normal.
The internet moves fast.
Interests change.
Trends rise and fall.
The worst thing you can do is trap yourself in a niche that no longer excites you just because you feel obligated to stick with it.
The best creators treat content like an experiment.
They test, tweak, and refine until they find what works.
The only way to figure out what works? Post consistently and pay attention to the response.
Example:
When I started posting on Threads, my niche was self-improvement and motivation. But quickly I realized that I want to do something else. I pivoted into the Threads growth niche, since I knew how to grow on Threads.
People Follow You, Not Just Your Niche
Think about your favorite creators.
You don’t follow them just because of what they post. You follow them because of who they are.
Their unique perspective.
Their personality.
Their storytelling.
The way they break things down.
If people only cared about niches, then every fitness creator, finance guru, or business coach would have the same audience size.
But they don’t.
because personality, experience, and style matter just as much as the topic itself.
Example:
Why do you think Simon Squibb has such a big audience?
Is it because of what he has done in life? Nope
Is it because of his knowledge? Well, yes (But not the main reason)
Is it because of his personality and who he is as a person? YES!
There’s tons of people that have similar knowledge to Simon, but are nowhere near the amount of followers that he has.
That’s the power of a good personality.
How to Find Your Niche (Without Overthinking It)
1. Just Start Posting
Don’t waste time trying to find the "perfect" niche. The only way to know what works is to create, share, and observe.
Pick something you’re interested in, start posting, and let the feedback shape your direction.
2. Look at What Resonates
Example: Let’s say you start posting about finance.
Your content about stocks and investing gets tons of engagement.
Your content about budgeting flops.
What do you do? Double down on what’s working. Lean into the topics that naturally attract attention and engagement.
3. Follow the ‘3-Content Rule’
To find what resonates with your audience, focus on posting three types of content:
What You Love Talking About (keeps you motivated)
What You’re Good At (positions you as an authority)
What People Respond To (ensures demand)
Your sweet spot? The overlap between all three.
Niche = Your Guideline
Your niche should feel like a guideline, not a prison.
It’s not about locking yourself into one thing forever.
it’s about creating a foundation that allows you to evolve.
The biggest mistake is waiting until you have it "all figured out" before you start.
Start posting. See what works. Adapt. Repeat.
Your audience will tell you everything you need to know.
Thanks for coming this far! I hope you learned something.
See you next week, until then…
KEEP CREATING 🙌
