Why going VIRAL is OVERRATED...

READ TIME: 2 Minutes

Happy Sunday Creator!
As I’ve said - I’m sorry for last sunday.
I had a sick stomach the first time in 5 years. It was AWFUL.
But now I’m back!
Also, If you celebrate Christmas, I hope you’ve had a really great time.
I had a really great time, but I think I ate too much candy ;)
Now, let’s get to the meat and potatoes!
Today, I will write about something that maybe a lot of you disagree with - or not.
Going viral is overrated…
Ok, let me explain…
First, let’s define “Going Viral”
For ME, “Going Viral” is when a post gets over 100-500k views depending on the type of post.
Anything under 100k views, depending on the post, is just IMO a “High Performer”.
Getting these numbers are great, BUT.
I would say that 99% of viral posts are just bland “Viral-seeking” Posts.
On the other hand, the rare 1% of viral posts are actually high-quality posts that has substance and value , which is always a positive thing.
The more views a high-quality post gets, the better.
But here’s the truth: creating a high-quality post that goes truly viral is incredibly difficult.
Even the top-tier creators can post for weeks without a single one going viral.
But that’s okay, they are still doing GREAT.
When a post goes viral, it feels like you've "made it."
But what really happens?
You get a wave of attention, sure.
You might gain some followers.
Your dopamine levels hit the roof.
And then… it fades.
The new followers barely know who you are.
They disappear as quickly as they arrived.
They liked one post, not you - Which should always be the goal.
I know because I've been there…
Short-term attention: Viral is temporary. The hype usually dies fast, you and your follwors will be left wondering, "What next?"
Low-quality followers: People who follow you because of one viral post aren’t great followers. Chances are, they won’t engage with your future content.
Burnout: Chasing virality is exhausting, it’s you against the algorithm. A fight you can never win and It’s not sustainable.
Think about it this way: Would you rather go viral once, or have a loyal audience that shows up every single time?
Easy choice.
Viral growth is often flashy and fast, but pretty much empty.
Real growth is slow and steady and not as flashy, but it lasts.
For example: when I started focusing on solving my audience's problems instead of chasing numbers, I noticed something incredible. A handful of followers began engaging with every post I shared. They asked questions, left thoughtful comments, and even reached out via DM
Real growth:
Building a community of people who care about your content.
Earning trust with valuable posts.
Creating connections with your audience.
Viral growth:
Random people hitting the follow button.
Posts with 0 engagement.
Constant pressure to repeat the viral success.
Here’s my advice to you:
Instead of chasing views, create content for your ideal audience - The people that you want to follow you.
A quality audience might be the biggest asset you have.
Here’s how to do it:
Write for your ideal audience, not the masses.
Share content that solves their problems and provides them value.
Stay consistent. Show up, even when you’re not going viral. This is the biggest factor when building trust.
Here’s a quick example:
If your niche is fitness and health.
Provide value through posting actionable tips, knowledge, stories, personal experiences, lessons from trusted people and so on.
There’s unlimited ways to provide value for your audience.
Your job is to present the value through appealing posts on Threads, so people actually read what you have to say.
SUMMARY
Virality is overrated - At least in my opinion.
But community isn’t.
Chasing attention will leave you empty.
Building an audience will take you further than you ever imagined.
Focus on giving out value on a consistent basis.
And the right people will come…
